Where is Cabo Pulmo?
Cabo Pulmo is located on the East Cape of Baja California Sur, Mexico, approximately two and a half hours from Los Cabos International Airport and three hours from La Paz.
How long is the journey?
This is a 5-day / 4-night journey. Days 2, 3, and 4 are dedicated primarily to diving, while Days 1 and 5 are arrival and departure days.
How many dives are included?
The journey includes six guided dives — two dives per day on Days 2, 3, and 4. A third daily dive can be arranged for an additional cost, subject to availability and conditions.
Do I need a diving certification?
Yes. An Open Water Diver Certification is required to participate in the diving program. If you are not certified, an optional certification package can be arranged prior to the journey. Please contact us before booking so there is sufficient time to coordinate it.
What makes this journey different from a regular dive trip?
The diving is at the heart of the experience, but it is not the entire experience. Guests stay at Casa Capelung and experience Cabo Pulmo through Dabu — someone who spent decades traveling the world before deciding to make this remote community her home. The combination of diving, place, art, hosting, community, and time to slow down makes the experience different from simply arriving for a series of dives.
Where will we stay?
Guests stay at Casa Capelung for four nights. Different room configurations are available, including private rooms and full-house accommodation. Breakfast is included.
How many people can join?
The standard journey is designed for 2 to 6 guests, allowing for a more personal experience and greater flexibility. Larger configurations may be possible depending on accommodation and diving logistics.
Is transportation included?
No. Transportation is not included in the base journey, but the Unseen team can coordinate ground transportation upon request. Pickup can be arranged from Los Cabos International Airport, Cabo San Lucas, La Paz, or another agreed location.
What meals are included?
Daily breakfast is included. Lunch and dinner are not included in the base journey. They can be arranged at Casa Capelung for an additional cost, guests can visit local restaurants, or additional food experiences such as Unseen Chef at Home can be coordinated.
Can you help us with groceries?
Yes. Guests may purchase their own groceries, and grocery shopping assistance can be arranged for an additional fee.
Can I add snorkeling or other marine activities?
Yes. Optional experiences can include guided snorkeling, half-day or full-day marine seafaris, seasonal whale watching, private boats, kayaking, and other marine activities depending on availability and conditions.
Do I need to be physically fit?
A moderate level of fitness is recommended. The journey involves boarding small boats, swimming, diving, walking on uneven terrain, sun exposure, and spending extended periods outdoors.
What should I pack?
We recommend: Lightweight and comfortable clothing, swimsuit, rash guard, comfortable walking shoes or sandals, hat and sunglasses, reusable water bottle, reef-safe sunscreen, light jacket or windbreaker, personal medications, small daypack, waterproof bag or phone case. A complete packing list will be provided before the journey.
What is the weather like?
Cabo Pulmo has a warm, dry climate, but temperatures and sea conditions vary throughout the year. Evenings and boat rides can feel cooler, so bringing a light layer is recommended.
Will we see marine wildlife?
Cabo Pulmo is known for its extraordinary marine biodiversity. Depending on the season and natural conditions, guests may encounter sea turtles, rays, dolphins, sea lions, large schools of fish, and other marine species. Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed.
Is the itinerary fixed?
No. Weather, sea conditions, visibility, wildlife activity, safety considerations, park regulations, and local circumstances may require adjustments. The objective is to make the most of Cabo Pulmo under the conditions encountered during the journey.
Is there phone service and Wi-Fi?
Connectivity in Cabo Pulmo can be limited or intermittent. Guests should be prepared for periods without reliable cellular or internet service.
Is this journey suitable for children?
The standard minimum age is 10 years old, and guests under 18 must travel with an adult. Diving eligibility also depends on certification, individual experience, and applicable diving requirements. Please contact us before booking when traveling with children.
Are travel and medical insurance required?
Travel insurance with appropriate medical and activity coverage is strongly recommended. Guests should confirm that their policy covers diving and the other activities they intend to participate in, as well as cancellations and emergency transportation. Required liability waivers must be completed before participating in applicable activities.
How do I reserve?
Your reservation is confirmed once the required deposit has been received. The remaining balance, payment deadlines, accommodation selection, diving information, and other booking requirements will be communicated as part of the reservation process.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellation and refund conditions will be provided before payment. Because this is a small-group journey involving advance reservations and local providers, deposits may become partially or entirely non-refundable after specified dates.
Is Cabo Pulmo a protected area?
Yes. Guests are expected to follow all applicable park regulations, respect wildlife, avoid touching marine life, and minimize their impact throughout the journey.
Who is this journey for?
This journey is for travelers who want more than a place to stay and a list of dive sites. It is for people who enjoy diving, appreciate natural settings, value local hosting, and are interested in experiences that connect them more deeply to the place and the community. Cabo Pulmo rewards slowness, curiosity, and respect for the marine environment.
