Cabo Pulmo, Baja California Sur, Mexico
Cabo Pulmo: Beneath the Surface
A five-day diving journey into one of the Sea of Cortez's greatest conservation stories.
Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival at Cabo Pulmo
The journey begins with your arrival at Los Cabos International Airport, Cabo San Lucas, La Paz, or another previously coordinated meeting point.
Transportation to Cabo Pulmo can be arranged upon request.
As the road moves away from the larger tourism centers of southern Baja, the landscape gradually changes.
The destination is a small community on the edge of the desert and one of the most remarkable marine protected areas in the Sea of Cortez.
Arrival at Casa Capelung
Settle into Casa Capelung, meet your host, Dabu, and take time to discover the house.
Art, objects, books, cultural pieces, and memories collected during decades of traveling around the world make Casa Capelung part home, part personal archive.
The rest of the day is intentionally relaxed.
Enjoy the ocean view, explore the surroundings, or simply slow down before the diving begins.
No diving is scheduled on arrival day.
Overnight at Casa Capelung.
Day 2
First Day Beneath the Surface
Breakfast at Casa Capelung
Begin the morning with breakfast at the house before preparing for the first day underwater.
Cabo Pulmo National Park: Two Dives
Head out into Cabo Pulmo National Park for two guided dives.
Dive sites are selected according to weather, sea conditions, experience level, park regulations, visibility, and recent marine-life activity.
Rather than promising specific wildlife encounters, each day responds to what the marine environment offers.
Depending on conditions, guests may encounter large schools of tropical fish, rays, sea turtles, reef species, and other marine life.
A third dive may be added for an additional cost, subject to availability and conditions.
Afternoon at Your Own Pace
After diving, return to Casa Capelung for a relaxed afternoon.
Spend time by the sea, explore the village and surroundings, visit one of Cabo Pulmo's casual restaurants, or add an optional activity.
Included: Two guided dives
Optional: Third dive, snorkeling, marine activities
Overnight at Casa Capelung.
Day 3
Diving & Marine Exploration
After breakfast, we return to the water.
Two more guided dives provide an opportunity to explore different sites within Cabo Pulmo National Park.
One of the remarkable aspects of diving here is the diversity of environments and marine encounters that can exist within the same protected ecosystem.
Dive locations are once again determined by conditions rather than by a rigid itinerary.
A third dive can be arranged for an additional cost.
Afternoon at Cabo Pulmo
The remainder of the day is open.
Relax at Casa Capelung, enjoy the beach, spend time with Dabu, explore the surrounding landscape, or choose an additional marine experience.
Included: Two guided dives
Optional: Third dive and additional marine experiences
Overnight at Casa Capelung.
Day 4
Final Day of Diving
After breakfast, head out for the final diving day of the journey.
Two guided dives take us back beneath the surface of Cabo Pulmo National Park.
Sites are selected to provide variety across the three diving days while taking advantage of the best available conditions.
Guests wishing to extend their time underwater may purchase a third dive, subject to availability.
Final Afternoon at Casa Capelung
Return to Casa Capelung for a final afternoon and evening by the Sea of Cortez.
Slow down, organize photographs, share stories from the journey, or simply enjoy the artistic atmosphere of the house and the landscape that convinced Dabu to make Cabo Pulmo her home.
Included: Two guided dives
Optional: Third dive
Overnight at Casa Capelung.
Day 5
Departure
Enjoy a relaxed final morning at Casa Capelung.
Breakfast is served before checkout.
There is no diving scheduled on departure day, allowing for an appropriate surface interval before flying.
Transportation to Los Cabos International Airport, Cabo San Lucas, La Paz, or another destination can be coordinated upon request.
After four nights in Cabo Pulmo and six dives beneath its waters, the journey ends where it began: between the desert and the sea.
